Ministries in our Parish (Non-vulnerable Sector)
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Visiting the Chapel on a designated date & time (Monday - Friday) Commitment: 1 hour a week. NO VOLUNTEER FORMS OR ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING REQUIRED Altar (Sacristy) Linens Laundering of sacristy linens, priests' albs & altar server gowns. Commitment: 2 hours a month
Art and Environment Prepare, set up and maintain the church's decorative environment throughout the liturgical year. If you have a green thumb & a little designers touch this is for you. Commitment: one day a week every 3-6 weeks depending on the number of volunteers.
Baptism Several times a month on Sundays, we require people to assist our priests with the celebration of baptism. This would involve setting up the table with towels, candles, baptism book & lighting the Easter candle. You would assist our priests through the celebration as needed & help tidy up afterwards. Approximately one hour on a Sunday a couple of times in a year. Commitment: Once a month every couple months
Cookie Jar Bakers If you have a love for baking you are welcome to help bake various cookies, muffins or loaves usually once every couple of months depending on the number of volunteers. Commitment: sign up as many times as you wish
Development and Peace Help our Development & Peace Coordinator with various awareness campaigns. Commitment: as needed by D & P Coordinator. NO VOLUNTEER FORMS OR ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING REQUIRED Eucharistic Ministers Mature confirmed individuals to assist in preparing gifts & distributing Holy Communion at masses. Yearly training compulsory. Commitment: 2 consecutive Sundays a month
Funeral Mass Adult altar servers to serve during funeral masses. As well, instrumentalists & vocalists are needed to assist with singing during a funeral mass. Commitment: as needed basis
Funeral Lunch Committee To provide funeral lunches, volunteers are needed for coordinating (organizing a particular funeral lunch), preparing trays, serving, clean up, baking & phoning/emailing. Commitment: as needed basis (depending on when we have funerals and if your schedule permits)
Hospitality Desk If you would like to assist our parishioners with new registrations, mass intention requests, general information & sale of religious articles, this volunteer position is just for you. Training is provided. Commitment: usually 2 months in the year
Lectors (Readers) Adults and those grade 7+ who would like to proclaim (read) the Word at Mass. Compulsory workshop is required. Commitment: two Sundays, approximately every 2-3 months
Legion of Mary This is a prayer group focusing on the modality of our Blessed Mother Mary- Meets every Wednesday from 7:00-8:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.NO VOLUNTEER FORMS OR ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING REQUIRED
Mission Mexico We are looking for someone to lead this ministry & help organize various events to help raise money & awareness for Project Mission Mexico. Commitment: as events are planned
Music Ministry/Choir We have 1 Saturday & 4 Sunday choirs that are looking for people to enrich the liturgies with their gifts of music. Instrumental & vocalists are needed. Commitment: Saturday/Sundays at the mass you prefer
Parish Council Serving on the Parish Council is a elected position that is elected in the Spring. Helps the pastor with events of the parish & works side by side with various ministries in the church. Commitment: a voted position that meets one evening every 1-2 months
Prayer Shawl Crochet & knit shawls for the needy in nursing homes & homebound. Commitment: as you have time. NO VOLUNTEER FORMS OR ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING REQUIRED
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) We require someone to help coordinate & facilitate the R.C. I. A. Program from September to Easter. This position would require once a week catechesis with potential candidates and/or catechumens. Individuals or couples that could facilitate on Sundays during Lent. The Breaking Open of the Word of God during the mass are also needed to walk through the readings with these individuals. Commitment: Once a week from September to Easter
Seniors 55+ Seniors meet on Tuesdays for cards as well as various events throughout the year. If you are 55+ & would like to socialize with others this ministry is a wonderful group for those who are retired or semi-retired & looking to meet new people & have fun. Seniors 55+ invited to attend anytime. NO VOLUNTEER FORMS OR ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING REQUIRED
Sunday Hospitality - First Sunday of Each Month Individuals or families that wish to help serve coffee & snacks after Sunday morning masses. Commitment: one Sunday once every 2-3 months depending on volunteers
Ushers Men & women to welcome & direct people to available seating, assist with Communion procession, take collection to the sacristy & assist those with special needs. Workshop attendance is strongly encouraged. Commitment: 1 or 2 times a month & on a volunteer basis at Christmas & Easter
